Two fields, two reserve lists, one notice: Artificial Intelligence, 240 places, and Cybersecurity, 254 places, under EPSO/AD/430/26. You apply for exactly one field.
Every test in the AD8 procedure
We cover the reasoning tests shared across EPSO competitions, plus field-related test practice for your field and EU-matters written-test preparation for AD/430/26.
Verbal Reasoning
Same CBT format EPSO uses across AD, AST and CAST. Adaptive difficulty, immediate explanations, language of your choice.
20 questions / 35 min · Min. 10/20 · Language 1
Numerical Reasoning
Tables, ratios, percentages, growth. Built for time pressure — the pattern detection matters more than mental maths.
10 questions / 20 min · Min. 10/20 with abstract · Language 1
Abstract Reasoning
Grayscale patterns matching EPSO style. Every question breaks a rule for each distractor — trains exact discrimination.
10 questions / 10 min · Min. 10/20 with numerical · Language 1
Field-specific test
Artificial Intelligence or Cybersecurity, on the duties Annex II attaches to your field. This is the only test that ranks you: you need the pass mark and a place among the best-ranked candidates. Field practice is in English; verbal, numerical and abstract practice is in your own language.
30 questions / 40 min · Min. 15/30 and among the best scores · Language 2
Essay on EU matters
Timed essay practice with structured rubric (clarity, EU context, argument, register). Auto-grading and model answers are live.
Free-text essay / 40 min · Min. 5/10 · Language 2
These tests are the whole selection: the notice contains no situational judgement test (SJT), no assessment centre, no interview before the reserve list, no talent screener and no separate digital-skills test. All tests are taken remotely, under supervision.
What is ready now
Clear status for AD8 candidates who are deciding what to work on this week.
Landing & onboarding
The AD8 path, signup flow and competition-specific routing are live.
Reasoning practice
Verbal, Numerical and Abstract modules are available for daily practice and timed simulations.
Field-related test
The Artificial Intelligence bank and the Cybersecurity bank are both live, in English: you pick your field once in the app and practise it from your first session. Verbal, numerical and abstract practice is in your own language.
Written test / EUFTE
Timed essay practice and graded feedback on structure, clarity, EU context and register are live.
Exam simulations
Section simulations and a full simulation, timed to the format in the notice, with a readiness report at the end.
AD8 is built for senior specialists
AD8 is not an entry grade. The notice sets out four combinations of study and professional experience, and meeting any one of them is enough.
3 years of study + 7 years
Three years of university study plus seven years of professional experience relevant to the field you apply for.
4 years of study + 6 years
Four years of university study, or a master's or doctorate in a relevant field, plus six years of relevant professional experience.
5 years of study + 5 years
Five years of university study, or a master's or doctorate in a relevant field, plus five years of relevant professional experience.
3 years of study in another field + 9 years
A three-year degree in any subject plus nine years of professional experience relevant to the field you apply for. This is the route candidates most often miss.
Two EU languages
Language 1 is one of the 24 official EU languages at C1 level or above; Language 2 is a different one of the remaining 23, at B2 level or above. Reasoning is taken in Language 1; the field-related test and the essay are taken in Language 2. At PassEPSO you practise verbal, numerical and abstract reasoning in your own language, and your field questions — Artificial Intelligence or Cybersecurity — in English.
EU citizenship
Open to EU nationals only. Always check the full eligibility rules in the official notice before relying on any summary.
Always read the full Notice of Competition for authoritative eligibility details.

How to compare AD8 prep options
Without naming other providers: choose the offer that covers the current 2026 format, gives you feedback, and does not force you into private-tutor pricing.
2026 EPSO scope
Reasoning practice, field-related test preparation and EUFTE written-test support are kept in one AD8 path. AD5-only modules such as EU Knowledge and Digital Literacy are separate.
Feedback, not just drills
The Score Predictor sets a baseline, adaptive practice focuses weak areas, and AI Tutor / EUFTE feedback explain what to fix next instead of leaving you with a raw answer key.
Mid-range value
Built as a focused self-study platform: more complete than a static question pack, lighter than private coaching, and multilingual where the reasoning bank is available.
EPSO AD8 AI & Cybersecurity — common questions
Applications for EPSO/AD/430/26 opened with the publication of the notice in the Official Journal (OJ C/2026/4668) on 8 September 2026 and close on 13 October 2026 at 12:00 Brussels time. Supporting documents must be uploaded by 14 January 2027 at 12:00 Brussels time. The notice does not fix the test dates: EPSO communicates the schedule for the remote, supervised tests to each candidate after the application phase closes.
No. The notice covers two fields and states that a candidate may only apply for one of them: Artificial Intelligence (240 places) or Cybersecurity (254 places), each with its own reserve list. You choose exactly one field at application, and that choice decides which qualifications count and which field-related test you sit.
The field-related test. Verbal reasoning, numerical and abstract reasoning and the essay are pass/fail gates — clearing them adds nothing to your position. On the field-related test you need the pass mark and a place among the best-ranked candidates: EPSO then works down that ranking, in principle no further than 1.5 times the number of places in your field, to mark the essays and check eligibility.
EU nationals who meet one of the four study-and-experience routes and the language conditions. AD8 is a senior grade: even the route with the longest studies asks for five years of relevant professional experience, and a three-year degree asks for seven — nine when the degree is in another subject. For the precise wording always consult the official Notice of Competition.
Yes, for reasoning. Verbal, Numerical and Abstract Reasoning use the same CBT format across EPSO AD competitions, so everything you practise there carries over. AD8 adds the field-related test and the essay — both included in your AD8 access.
Reasoning preparation carries over to the next EPSO cycle (AD5, AD7, AST, CAST and future AD8 rounds). Essay and field content keep updating as EPSO publishes new guidance.
