Does EPSO AD5 2026 Have a Situational Judgement Test? The Official Answer

Does EPSO AD5 2026 Have a Situational Judgement Test? The Official Answer

If you have been researching EPSO AD5 2026, you may have come across references to a Situational Judgement Test (SJT) from older study guides, forums, or competitor platforms. It is a fair question — the SJT was part of some previous EPSO competition formats. However, the official answer for EPSO/AD/427/26 is clear: there is no SJT in this competition.

What the Official Notice Says

The Notice of Competition EPSO/AD/427/26, published in the Official Journal (C/2026/711) on 5 February 2026, specifies exactly five test components. No SJT is listed among them.

The Five Actual Tests in EPSO/AD/427/26

Here is what the competition genuinely includes — all taken remotely via the TAO platform:

Test Duration Minimum Weight (final ranking)
Verbal reasoning (L1) 35 min 10/20 35%
Numerical + abstract reasoning (L1) 30 min 10/20 Pass/fail — not ranked
EU knowledge MCQ (L2) 40 min 15/30 25%
Digital skills MCQ (L2) 30 min 20/40 25%
EUFTE free-text essay (L2) 40 min 5/10 15%

What Else Does NOT Exist in This Competition

Beyond the absence of an SJT, candidates should note that EPSO/AD/427/26 is a completely new format compared to previous competition cycles. The following elements that appeared in older EPSO competitions are not part of this competition:

  • No Assessment Centre (AC) — this competition is 100% remote with no in-person component.
  • No case study or written exercise at an assessment centre.
  • No group exercise or role play.
  • No structured competency-based interview.
  • No oral presentation.
  • No separate abstract reasoning scored section (abstract reasoning is combined with numerical as a pass/fail test only).

Why the Confusion About SJT?

EPSO introduced SJTs in some competition formats between 2010 and 2022 as part of the pre-selection phase. These tests assessed how candidates responded to realistic workplace scenarios. However, EPSO has redesigned its selection methodology for the 2026 competition cycle, replacing the traditional format with the five remote CBT sections described above.

Study materials published before February 2026, or materials based on earlier competition formats, may still reference SJTs. Always verify test components against the official competition notice — not third-party summaries.

How to Prepare for the Actual Tests

Since the competition has no SJT, direct your preparation to the five sections that do exist:

  • Verbal reasoning: practice reading comprehension and logical inference under time pressure.
  • Numerical + abstract reasoning: aim to pass the minimum; focus on accuracy over perfection.
  • EU knowledge: study EU institutions, treaties, policies, and current EU priorities — in your L2.
  • Digital skills: review the DigComp framework and practical digital literacy scenarios — in your L2.
  • EUFTE essay: practise structured writing on EU topics in 40 minutes in your L2.

Passepso provides practice content for all five official sections, aligned strictly with the EPSO/AD/427/26 notice. No outdated formats, no SJT — just the tests you will actually face.
