EPSO AD5 Mock Test 2026: How to Build a Realistic Practice Session

An EPSO AD5 mock test is useful only if it tells you something true about your preparation. A random set of questions can feel productive, but it may hide weak areas and give a false sense of readiness.

For EPSO/AD/427/26, the application window was 5 February to 10 March 2026. The next fixed official date candidates should keep in mind is the supporting-documents deadline: 7 October 2026. The preparation window now should be used to practise against the real AD5 structure.

What a realistic AD5 mock test should include

A realistic AD5 practice session should be built around the official test areas:

• Verbal Reasoning
• Numerical Reasoning
• Abstract Reasoning
• EU Knowledge
• Digital Literacy
• EUFTE Written Test

That does not mean every practice session must cover everything. It means your weekly mock-test plan should not leave any official area untouched.

The mistake: using mock tests as score entertainment

Many candidates take mock tests, look at the percentage, feel good or bad for five minutes, and move on. That is not preparation. The score is only the starting point.

After every mock session, write down:

• Which section produced the most wrong answers?
• Which mistake type repeated?
• Was the issue knowledge, reasoning method, speed or concentration?
• Which section should get the next focused practice block?

Separate “diagnostic” sessions from “training” sessions

A diagnostic session measures your current level. A training session fixes one weakness. Mixing the two makes progress harder to see.

Use a diagnostic session when you need a broad view across the AD5 areas. Use a focused training session when you already know the problem: for example, numerical ratios, abstract rotations, EU institutions, spreadsheet logic or EUFTE paragraph structure.

How to review each section

Verbal Reasoning

Review the exact wording. If you got the answer wrong, identify whether you relied on outside knowledge, missed a qualifier, or answered a stronger statement than the one given.

Numerical Reasoning

Keep an error log by calculation type: percentage change, average, ratio, comparison, unit conversion or chart reading. The pattern of errors matters more than one individual score.

Abstract Reasoning

Do not stop at “I see it now”. Name the rule. Was it rotation, position, number, shading, size, alternation or a combination? If you cannot name the rule, you have not fully reviewed the question.

EU Knowledge

Turn wrong answers into a study map. A mistake on an institution, treaty, policy area or procedure should point to the exact topic you need to revise next.

Digital Literacy

Review the professional judgement behind the answer. In a workplace scenario, the best answer is usually the one that is safe, efficient, clear and appropriate for the task.

EUFTE Written Test

Review structure first. Does the answer have a clear introduction, developed points and a conclusion? Are the paragraphs doing different jobs, or repeating the same idea?

A simple mock-test rhythm

Use this rhythm when you do not know where to start:

1. Broad diagnostic: sample several AD5 areas.
2. Error review: classify every wrong answer.
3. Focused repair: practise the weakest area only.
4. Second check: repeat a mixed session and compare the mistake pattern.

This keeps the mock test useful. You are not just measuring yourself; you are deciding what to do next.

What makes a mock test misleading?

• It skips one of the official AD5 areas.
• It uses outdated competition formats.
• It gives a score without explanations.
• It lets you repeat familiar questions until the score looks better.
• It does not distinguish reasoning errors from knowledge gaps.
