Frontex states that in 2025–2026 it plans to recruit up to 400 officers for the Standing Corps, including Team Members (FGIV) and leadership profiles at AD8 level. The application deadline for the listed 2025/2026 profiles has passed, but the recruitment procedure is still ongoing and candidates continue to move through later stages.

Official Frontex 2025/2026 recruitment stages

The official recruitment update separates the process into stages. For candidates, the practical point is simple: each stage is selective, and Frontex says candidates are invited to each required test once. Rescheduling requests are not granted under the official update.

1. Stage I — online tests: knowledge test and English language proficiency test(s).
2. Stage II — physical, swimming and psychometric tests: physical aptitude and swimming tests are conducted in Warsaw; psychometric tests are scheduled separately and may be online or in Warsaw depending on the notice.
3. Stage III — psychological assessment and competency-based interview: the later selection stage focuses on suitability, motivation, behaviour and role fit.

What “application processing time” means in practice

There is no single processing-time guarantee. The official page gives a recruitment calendar by stage instead. For the 2025/2026 campaign, the page lists the application deadline as 15 December 2025, knowledge tests in mid-January 2026, English tests on 29–30 January 2026, physical/swimming tests from 12 February 2026, psychometric tests on 16–18 February 2026, psychological assessment from 16 March 2026, competency-based interviews in April/May 2026 depending on profile, interview outcomes at the beginning of June, job offers scheduled for mid June 2026, and medical examinations from 30 June 2026.

That sequence matters for preparation. If you are already beyond the application stage, the highest-value work is not filling more forms; it is preparing for the official test families and interview stage that remain ahead.

What candidates can prepare now

• Knowledge test: Frontex points candidates to reference materials and official topic areas, including EU legislation related to Frontex and border/coast guard functions, EU institutions and bodies, fundamental rights, ethics, and ICT knowledge for Standing Corps officers.
• English test: Frontex requires English at B2 level under the CEFR. That means comprehension, precision, professional register and speed matter.
• Psychometric tests: the vacancy notice describes timed multiple-choice assessments and points to verbal and abstract reasoning elements.
• Interview preparation: the competency-based interview should be prepared with concrete examples, not generic motivation statements.
